The selections have been made and the brackets are out.

Not so good for the Lady Wahine of Hawaii this year. Six losses have relegated them to the #7 seed (for this tournament the NCAA does not seed teams within regions - they simply seed the top 16 teams overall), the equivalent of a regional #2 seed. Both the losses and the seeding are below expectations UH.

The upside is that this takes the Lady Wahine out of the path of Florida, a team that has many times sent them packing. Hawaii wouldn't play Florida or powerhouse and top seed Nebraska until the Championship.

Unfortunately, Penn State looms as the top seed in Hawaii's region. If the Wahine are to move on to the Final Four, they'll have to march into the Lions' (Lionesses'?) den and take down the #2 seed on their home floor in the Regional Final. I'm not holding my breath.

Meanwhile, U of L comes in at the #9 seed and plays host to U of Kentucky, Western Kentucky and Maryland for the first two rounds. This is do-able for the Cards.
